Looking down the Burr Trail Rd. |
Finding the Nortom Rd was pretty easy-8 miles backtrack on CR24 from our campsite and we took to the new trail like a fish swimming upstream. Heading south the road opened to an arid landscape. Finding our way we approached with "ahhh" looking at the Burr Trail Rd. At the bottom of the steep collection of switch backs, looking up we felt small. Buckled up we took to the trail and rode up the steep narrow winding switch backs that make Burr Trail so famous.

Trixie getting a better look at the top! |
The trail looked sandy and slick, but tires aired down we grabbed every curve with confidence. Stunning ride to the top as we made our way towards Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. At the top of Escalante Canyon the trail winds you through the Grand Staircase of grand proportions. Bordering the Grand Staircase from the east lies Capital Reef National Park and the incredible grand view of ancient monoliths.

Winding down the staircase Escalante |
Driving up and down Trixie guided our rig expertly through the canyons layers with each turn, as spectacular as the next. Cruising down the staircase was never ending.

Road through the staircase Escalante National Park |
Heading west the trail led us to Boulder UT' a little town with a Anasazi Village State Park located in the center of it! From there we headed over to Bryce Canyon National Park, perhaps one of the busiest next to Zion National Park in Utah's extensive portfolio of national parks.

Famous Bryce Canyon National Park |
Knowing we are getting into a busy park we made back up plans for camping. We drove to the entrance to
Bryce Canyon National Park and suddenly realized that this place was geared to accommodate many, many visitors. We stopped for breaky, turned out to be all you can eat Brunch. Trixie even got out with a to go box!!....... Sweet!!

Bryce Canyon National Park Sandstone formations |
We entered the park on the only road in or out and followed the turns and twists while the Canyon- Overlooks dot the road. We chose to get to the top and stopped at each outlook on the way back but first we checked out the campground. Sites available, we cruised the dry area, however there was not much in the way of privacy. We were not impressed.
The drive was amazing! The park was beautiful at every turn, it was getting late and becoming more and more crowded. We enjoyed the trip through this amazing canyon, we weren't planning on camping in the park, however, we put plan "B" into action. Leaving the park we headed west to
Kings Creek Campground .

Bryce Canyon National Park Hoodoos |
Weather was beautiful- that night and the stars came out. In the morning we took a short hike to view some Hoodoos!! That night pork chops braised in beer and camp Wedge Salad along with a couple of beers, we sat and watched the stars a zillion million overland miles away!!!
