Joshua Tree National Park to Anza Borrego, 2021

To catch you up to speed, this is the last bit of adventure before I go consumer.  I've been having difficulties with my phone (not charging) also I had a complete shut down of my blog computer while in the bush.  So pics are very limited and the weekly blog post has been, let's say unpublished for weeks, (as before this post it has been back every Tuesday with a new post...  Yay!), as this story goes.  The events are real and absolutely no animals were hurt or maimed on this or any other WeOverlander adventures.

Having left Arizona, I met up with a good buddy of mine in Joshua Tree National Park.  We hung-out, camped, talked story, I got a flat (Whoa! not like the last time, "Joshua Tree National Park, Circle the Wagons part 2", posted 1-23-19) and we did some 4-wheeling.  It was the off-road maiden voyage of his 2020 Toyota Tacoma dual-cab, since it came off the line, pop the proverbial-cherry you could say.. "Lots of radio chatter back-n-fourth".
After a few days camping and exploring in Joshua Tree NP we pressed on south to the Salton Sea and through Mecca, as we head into Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

Hot, dry and dusty there was no one on the roads so we just tooled around checking camping options from state campgrounds to dispersed camping in the many twisting gorges and arroyo's.  I defiantly need to come back to this area with a full chargeable phone.  We camped our first night in the Blair Valley there was plenty of campsites and 4wd tracks leading to a Pictograph site.  Tons of stars out that night while I was kickin back, sippin frothies thinking...  How good it would be to jump into a shower right about now in this hot-ass desert...Mirage......

Morning coffee, a brekkie burrito and we are back on the road heading over to Wind Caves and Elephant Trees.  Wait what the Holy Heck is that, (a huge cloud of dust....  close-up; tires skid too a halt.) wiping the Mirage from my eyes, a coin operated hot shower literally standing in the middle of the desert, clean and working, not kidding, about 1k outside of empty spot on the map called Ocotillo Wells... (Mirage)  Dreams do come true and sometimes a Mirage or two, $2. bucks in quarters, how good is that!

Again I am very limited with my phone battery on the outs!!  Move-along, nothing to see here your probably thinking!!

Back tracking through the Anza Borrego Desert SP we spied a 4wd track to Culp Valley Trail and carefully engaged it.  Off cambered rocky steps promises this trail to be exciting, deep dipped rutted dry creek beds, gripping tighter as I navigate lose slick rocks and large-ass boulders.  I kept climbing up and over a rocky lip, 4-lo steady throttle, speed and momentum (unlocked) as tires clawing and gaining purchase rolling over the looming obstacles.  With both our rigs comfortably sitting on all four's its time to suck down a frothy and make camp in hopes that with a bit more elevation the night will cool off.  Making plans that night, we start are way back in the morning after coffee.  Heading back, over to Mecca and north to SR62 through the Morongo Valley left on SR247 to the Yucca Valley and SR18 to Lucerne Valley and then to the Cajon Pass.  Jumping off at Cajon Junction we tackle the San Bernardino Mountains and claw our way up Lytle Canyon for our last night's camp before I go full consumer, getting my laptop fixed or replaced and a new friggin phone... What a trip!

Hope to see you on the Trail!!..
